UPDATE: 3/24/11 at 9:40pm
First, I must thank the University of Kentucky PR department for spreading the word about this fundraiser here: http://uknow.uky.edu/node/15312.

Second, I am overwhelmed. Really. I put a plea on the blog. I sang and chair danced. I am making bracelets to give away. And you responded.

In 4 days, we've gone from $1,640 to $2,205! We are 88% there! PLEASE help me keep pushing. I would like to push PAST $2,500 - every.dollar.counts.

Including check contributions, we're sitting at $1,575 raised! I would love to go OVER the $2,500 limit to help cover some of the PayPal Fees that are being assessed (I'm going to try to make the difference up as much as possible). Please keep spreading the word, and thank you so much for your generosity! xoxo

Parkinson's Disease Fundraising for the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute
Hi friends!

I'm sure you're here because I've hit you up for money. Rest assured, it's for a great cause, and I am willing to work HARD for it.

My mom passed away on April 3, 2007 from complications of Young Onset Parkinson's Disease. She was 50. Towards the end of her life, the disease took away her mobility. There are many impaired with illness and disability beyond their control who cannot walk. My only ailment is obesity, which I am over 100 pounds into beating.

Therefore, on the fourth anniversary of her death, April 3, 2011, I will be completing the RunTheBluegrass half-marathon. 13.1 miles.

My goal? Celebrate the life I am giving myself by completing this great feat 2 days before my 30th birthday. And to raise at least $2,500 for Parkinson's Disease research. Every dollar raised will be donated to the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute at the University of Kentucky.

So tell your friends and family. Walk with me if you'd like. We have the freedom to celebrate our health, and in the meantime, I'm going to work on raising money for those who don't have a choice.

All details are also at http://skinnyemmie.com

xoxo,
Emmie
